service company. I’m here on a customer’s

yard, and I want to talk to you today about

army worms and what to do about them.

I found these crawling across the concrete, and these are your army worms right here. They’re pretty small. I’ve got a yellow stripe or

white stripe, it almost looks

yellow or white stripe running down

their back. When you squish them, they’ll actually squish out a little bit of nasty looking green stuff pretty gross, but these will devour your whole yard in no time flat. They will actually eat the blade of grass, and

basically why they call them this because it’s exactly what they do. I mean they come through as an army and they’ll wipe out your yard

overnight almost. And you’ll either be seeing these worms in your yard or you’ll be seeing white moths laying the eggs. You might not be seeing the actual worm right now, but if you see

the white moths, they’re there. You’re just not seeing them yet. So keep an eye out for

these. You can put a general insecticide down, we use a product called Crosscheck Plus. It takes care of them pretty easily and pretty quickly. I’m sure any of the big box stores sell a insecticide you could put out, but if it’s something you don’t want to handle, give us a shout and let us know. Keep an eye out for these because they will eat your yard up quickly.
